When I was little, I asked my mum what she thought I’d look like when I grew up. “A goth”, she said. I didn’t know what that was, but was intrigued. I dressed myself as soon as I was old enough to put up a fight. My mum liked frothy, ice cream sundae-looking outfits. I liked purple…

…and not matching.
As a teenager I wore whatever I could to fit in. I covered up in baggy hoodies and got blonde highlights until I decided, one day, enough was enough. I can’t remember exactly when it happened. I just remember dyeing my hair red and layering short sleeved tees over long sleeved ones and it kind of snowballed from there.
