What sparked your interest in becoming a fashion designer and having latex as your main material? We’ve always had an interested in clothes and how things are made. A challenge was handed to our qualified tailoress by a friend to make a better latex kilt than the one they had and just fell in love with working with the material.

You have been modelling since you were only 16, how did this come about?
Like most alternative models, I kind of just fell into it; it was never really planned, I started doing makeup styles and taking dreadful self-portraits, which I would upload to Deviantart. One of my friends from school who had done work experience with an amazing local photographer (Aaron Bennett), saw my poser self shots and thought I would really enjoy coming along and shooting with him; that day I found what I wanted to do with my life, and to this day I’ve never found anything that’s given me more joy than modeling has. Being able to create different characters and having the power to be whatever I want to be has given me confidence when my self esteem has been on the floor. It’s fuelled my creativity and pushed me into worlds I never knew existed, and I can confidently say that day changed my life and career.
Where did your Miss Deadly Red persona that we all know come from?
I don’t really know actually! I just wanted to create a name that reflected my image but was still memorable… Deadly because a lot of my shoots can be so dark, I’ve always preferred the abandoned buildings in the pouring rain to the cosy, cushy studios. Red because obviously I’m a tiny ginger lady! But I think it was mainly that everyone wants that dark side, Miss Deadly Red is mine! Continue reading
